49ers Trim Roster to 53

The San Francisco 49ers announced on Saturday they have released 26 players and placed Nate Byham, a second-year tight end on the Injured Reserve List.

The 49ers roster now stands at 53.

From the 80-man roster, the following players have been released: CB Phillip Adams, C Chase Beeler, QB McLeod Bethel-Thompson, DT Brian Bulcke, FB Jack Corcoran, CB Phillip Davis, T Derek Hall, WR Joe Hastings, WR Chris Hogan, WR Ronald Johnson, LB Alex Joseph, TE Nate Lawrie, WR Lance Long, S Chris Maragos, QB Josh McCown, CB Cory Nelms, RB Xavier Omon, TE Konrad Reuland, LB Kenny Rowe, NT Sealver Siliga, LB Monte Simmons, S Curtis Taylor, DB Anthony West, T Kenny Wiggins, G Tony Wragge and WR Dominique Zeigler.

Undrafted rookie defensive linemen Demarcus Dobbs and Ian Williams join eight 49ers draft picks currently on the 53-man roster. That group that includes LB Aldon Smith, QB Colin Kaepernick, CB Chris Culliver, RB Kendall Hunter, G Daniel Kilgore, S Colin Jones, FB Bruce Miller and OL Mike Person.

As the roster stands, the 49ers have two quarterbacks in Kaepernick and Alex Smith, a seven-year veteran. The 49ers also have two tight ends on the roster, Vernon Davis and Delanie Walker.
