49ers Sign WR Jerome Simpson to Two-year Deal

The San Francisco 49ers announced they have signed WR Jerome Simpson to a two-year deal.

Simpson (6-2, 190) was originally selected by the Cincinnati Bengals in the second round (46th overall selection)

of the 2008 NFL Draft. He has played in 57 games (36 starts) and has tallied 145 receptions for 2,004 yards and eight touchdowns.

During his six-year career, Simpson has played for the Cincinnati Bengals (2008-11) and the Minnesota Vikings (2012-13). Simpson set a career high with 726 receiving yards on 48 receptions and one touchdown in 2013.

A 29-year-old native of Reidsville, NC, Simpson attended Coastal Carolina University, where he played in 45 games and registered 161 receptions for 2,720 yards and 44 touchdowns. He was named the Big South Freshman of the Year in 2004, and set Big South single-season records in 2006 with 1,077 receiving yards and 16 touchdowns.
