Grant (6-1, 251) was originally a 7th-round (214th overall) selection by the 49ers in the 2008 NFL Draft, out of Ohio State. He rejoined the 49ers in 2011 after spending the previous three seasons with the St. Louis Rams. Grant played in all 16 games (3 starts) and both postseason contests last season, setting a career-high in tackles (30), while recording 2.0 sacks and one forced fumble. He has played in 50 games (11 starts) in his four-year career, and recorded 62 tackles, 5.0 sacks, four forced fumbles and two fumble recoveries. Grant also made an impact on special teams in 2011, posting 10 tackles.
A 26-year-old a native of Santa Rosa, CA, Grant starred collegiately at Ohio State.
Swain (6-0, 200) has played in 27 games (2 starts), recording eight receptions for 87 yards. He was originally drafted by the Green Bay Packers in the seventh round (217th overall) of the 2008 NFL Draft, and was later released following training camp. Swain was signed to the Packers practice squad on 9/3/08 and then promoted to their active roster on 12/30/08. He spent the 2009-10 seasons on the Packers active roster. Swain re-signed with Green Bay during the 2011 offseason, only to be released during training camp. The 49ers signed Swain on 10/12/11, and he went on to play in five games (one start), tallying 2 receptions for 15 yards last season.
A 26-year old native of Ashville, NC, Swain starred collegiately at San Diego State, where he led the team with 58 receptions for 973 yards and five touchdowns, as a senior.
