Nelson rejoins the 49ers after two prior stints with the team. He spent a portion of the offseason workouts in 2013 as well as part of training camp in 2012 with San Francisco.

Following his release from the 49ers on July 10, 2013, Nelson was acquired off of waivers by the Seattle Seahawks and was later released on Aug. 26, 2013. The Washington Redskins then signed him on Oct.15, 2013, where he spent the remainder of the season. Nelson saw action in 11 games for the Redskins, in 2013.

Originally signed by the New Orleans Saints as an undrafted free agent in 2011, Nelson spent time on the Kansas City Chiefs practice squad before joining the 49ers in 2012. He was also with the Philadelphia Eagles and San Diego Chargers prior to his second stint in San Francisco.

Nelson, a 27-year-old native of Waco, TX, played collegiately at New Mexico State University.
