1. Cornering the Market
Just about every NFL writer familiar with the San Francisco 49ers has identified cornerback as the team's clear-cut position of need. While some debate if the 49ers will move up to select a defensive back, many football scribes have narrowed their mock drafts with cornerbacks going to the 49ers. "They'll need to add a cornerback," writes Bill Barnwell of Grantland.com. In fact, Barnwell believes San Francisco's best draft scenario involves the 49ers selecting Virginia Tech cornerback Kyle Fuller with pick No. 30 and then following it up by taking Florida State cornerback Lamarcus Joyner of Florida State at pick No. 56. "They’re so thin at corner that using their first two picks on the position would hardly be out of the question," Barnwell wrote.
The 49ers do not have a single cornerback on the current roster drafted in the first round.

Jason Verrett, a potential first-round cornerback out of TCU, is a popular 49ers mock draft pick these days. He also has a unique connection to Jim Harbaugh.
Verrett played at Santa Rosa Junior College before transferring to TCU. One of Verrett's coaches at SRJC was Brad Muster, a former NFL teammate of Harbaugh. San Francisco Chronicle writer Eric Branch wrote that Harbaugh will speak at the school's upcoming fundraiser banquet in June. SRJC head coach Lenny Wagner told Branch, "Mayber we'll have their first-round pick there, too."
>>Verrett sat down with SB Nation for a pre-draft interview in New York City.
>>Greg Bedard of MMQB.com believes the 49ers should draft Verrett.
