49ers Activate Michael Crabtree; Waive No. 3 QB

To make room for its top wideout on the roster, San Francisco waived McLeod Bethel-Thompson.

The 49ers activated wide receiver Michael Crabtree from the team’s Reserve/PUP List on Tuesday afternoon. To make room for Crabtree on the roster, the team waived quarterback McLeod Bethel-Thompson.

Crabtree was placed on the Reserve/PUP List on Aug. 27, 2013. He returned to practice on November 5.

Originally selected by the 49ers in the first round of the 2009 NFL Draft, Crabtree has played in 58 career games (56 starts). As a 49er, he has tallied 260 receptions for 3,345 yards and 21 touchdowns. In 2012, Crabtree started all 16 regular season games and set career highs with 85 receptions for 1,105 yards and nine touchdowns.

"I anticipate that he's going to come back this week," Jim Harbaugh said after Monday night's win at Washington.

Bethel-Thompson was claimed off waivers from the Minnesota Vikings on Oct. 9, 2013 and has been inactive each of the 49ers last six games.
