Crabtree (6-1, 214) was a two-time Fred Biletnikoff Award recipient as the nation?s most productive receiver, becoming the first ever first-year player to receive the award, in 2007. The two-time All-America and Big 12 selection finished his two-year Texas Tech career with 3,127 receiving yards, breaking the previous team record of 3,069 yards set by Wes Welker. Crabtree became just the seventh player in conference history to gain 3,000 career yards. His 231 career receptions and 41 career touchdowns from 2007-08 set NCAA records for catches and touchdowns in a two-year span.
A model of consistency, Crabtree put together a string of 13 consecutive games with at least one touchdown and five receptions, tying an NCAA record. He ranked fifth in NCAA history with a 120.3-yard career receiving average and sixth with 41 career touchdown receptions, shattering the previous school record of 30.
In 2008, Crabtree caught 97 passes for 1,165 yards and 19 touchdowns. He set school, conference and NCAA freshman all-time single-season records with 134 receptions for 1,962 yards (14.6 average) and 22 touchdowns, in 2007. His receiving yardage total that year is third-best in NCAA history all-time. Crabtree red-shirted his freshman year while making the transition from quarterback to wide receiver.
The 22-year-old Crabtree is a native of Dallas, TX.
