Dr. Nadine Burke Harris is the founder and CEO of The Center for Youth Wellness, a primary beneficiary of the 49ers Foundation as part of the Foundation's mission to keep kids "Safe, On Track and In School." CYW was created to respond to an urgent public health issue: early adversity harms the developing brains and bodies of children. CYW is a health organization within a pediatric center that serves children and families in the Bayview Hunters Point neighborhood of San Francisco. Within the center is the "49ers Huddle," a gathering place for care providers to collaborate in the assistance provided for the youth in need. Santa Clara High School has been selected as the site of the 49ers STEM Leadership Institute. The STEM Leadership Institute is a long-term commitment, funded by the 49ers Foundation, Chevron and other collaborative partners in cooperation with the Santa Clara Unified School District and the Silicon Valley Education Foundation. The program provides academically talented, yet under-resourced students the tools needed to grow and enhance their talents in STEM fields.
