Turner is entering his tenth season as the 49ers Vice President of Football Affairs, where he oversees the team’s Player Engagement Program, as well as working alongside the 49ers Alumni Relations Director in handling all alumni efforts. Although his playing career ended in 1990, Turner never really left the 49ers family. The year following his retirement from football, Turner kept his association with the 49ers, working in the player and community relations departments. Since that time, he has greatly contributed to the team’s public relations, marketing, foundation and community outreach efforts. In 1992, Turner joined former coach and mentor, Bill Walsh, at Stanford University, where he served as the linebackers coach for the Cardinal for three seasons. Upon leaving Stanford, Turner embarked on his radio and television career, while also working in community relations for DeBartolo Entertainment. He went on to serve as a color analyst for 49ers preseason games for 13 years (1995-2007) and was a co- host for the 49ers Preview Show. He also was the radio/TV color analyst for the San Jose SaberCats of the Arena Football League for 14 seasons.
