The Player Interface is where the 49ers Game Plan action begins---it's the interface that allows you to make real-time predictions on professional football games. The Player Interface has two tabs to assist with navigation: Events and Game Info.

Events tab: When you logon, the Events tab will already be expanded to show all available professional football episodes for the week. You must select an episode from the list before you can play.

Game Info tab: This section contains a basic How to Play document, professional football prediction rules, General 49ers Game Plan Rules, FAQs.

The Game State is a visual depiction of what is happening in the current game. It has two tabs that allow you to switch between Status and Results view.

The Status tab of the game state provides a visual depiction of what is currently happening in the game and is updated continuously throughout the show. Important aspects of the game are animated here (e.g. a touchdown, field goal, etc.)

The Results tab of the game state shows the correct result of each trivia and prediction opportunity. This allows you to double check the prediction you made (as per the History section) and see what the correct outcome was.

A prediction opportunity is question about a future event in the game that could have several possible outcomes. For example, 'What will the kick-off result be?' 49ers Game Plan offers a variety of prediction opportunities throughout a game and you may select one outcome from each prediction opportunity. For help making a decision, you can refer to a prediction outcome's point value.

Each outcome has Points associated with it, based on the probability in which it will occur. Points are earned by correctly answering prediction opportunities. Even with a limited knowledge of football, you can use the points to guide you in making your predictions:

Lower point values indicate that an outcome has a greater likelihood of occurring. The benefit of picking a low-risk outcome is that you have a greater chance of winning.

Higher point values indicate that an outcome has a lower likelihood of occurring. The benefit of selecting a high-risk outcome is that your prediction can win you significantly more points!

Each player starts with a zero (0) points balance.

Note: Available prediction opportunities will automatically disappear once they become unavailable or when the prediction window is closed.

The blackout period is the number of seconds before the start of an event in which predictions or trivia selections are no longer accepted. To ensure a fair game, a four second blackout period is used. During the blackout period the progress bar is red.

After making a prediction, it will appear in your History, located under the game state. All your predictions made in the game will appear in this area. You are able to filter your predictions by using the following check boxes: pending, won, lost, or cancelled. Un-clicking a check box results in all items with that status will be hidden in your History. If no boxes are checked, all of your previous predictions are shown regardless of their resolution.

The history table contains all the information associated with your prediction opportunity, including its status. Prediction opportunities can have several different status values: pending, accepted, rejected, won, lost or cancelled.

Opportunities for which the outcome has not yet occurred, or the result is not yet known, are called pending predictions. Pending predictions have a progress bar that turns from red (not accepted) to green (accepted).

If the progress bar turns green the prediction is 'accepted'. A prediction must be accepted before it is eligible to win points if correct.

If you missed the prediction window (your prediction was submitted during the blackout period), your prediction will be 'rejected'. See blackout period for more information.

If your prediction was accepted and correct, then its status will change from 'accepted' to 'won'.

If your prediction was accepted but incorrect, then its status will change from 'accepted' to 'lost'.

Cancelled predictions occur if the prediction was accepted but the result of the opportunity was not one of the possible outcomes listed. Refer to the Game Rules for examples.

Each episode has its own Leader Board that displays the top 10 players who have won the most points. Players are ranked in terms of who has won the most points during each particular game. The Leader Board is frequently updated, and regardless of if you have a high score or not, you will always be displayed with your name highlighted and your position listed. At the end of the episode, the Leader Board will display who won the most points during a given 49ers Game Plan football game.

Located at the top of the player interface is a message display area that is designed to keep players informed. Systems Messages can include any technical difficulties that arise, key happenings in the game, interesting facts, or any other 49ers Game Plan messages.
